By "etiquette" is meant the rules of conduct in golf. Respect for the course, the players and the game are central to this. Simply put, etiquette comprises a set of guidelines that ensures that other players (and yourself) can play safely, enjoyably and fairly.
In general, the dress etiquette for gentlemen is slacks or bermuda shorts with a short-sleeved or long-sleeved polo shirt with collar over it. Short bermuda shorts to just above the knee are permitted. A collarless t-shirt is not permitted. In addition, wearing golf shoes (with spikes) or athletic shoes is mandatory, this is also for your own safety and comfort. Wearing jogging suits and tracksuits is not allowed. In general, you can choose from special golf pants and golf shirts that comply with etiquette. Wearing a cap or hat is permitted.

Ladies also wear slacks or bermuda shorts. The bermuda may be slightly shorter for ladies than for men. Wearing golf skirts is also permitted, provided they cannot be perceived as offensive. Ladies are permitted to wear golf polo shirts with collars that are sleeveless or have short or long sleeves. Wearing tops and belly shirts is not permitted. Wearing golf shoes (with spikes) or athletic shoes and socks is mandatory.
