Frank put it this way. "I have been working with Tespelduyn for several years with the goal of making the course even more fun, beautiful and better. In a nutshell, the philosophy we apply to this type of project is to make as many holes as possible strategic. The biggest advantage of a strategic hole is that it makes you as a player think about how to play the hole optimally. It is also true that a well-designed hole is difficult for good players and forgiving for other players.
The current hole 7 has a pond in the middle of the fairway and it is mainly for average players in play.
We are going to partially dam the water feature and greatly expand the already existing small water feature to the left of the fairway. We will also create a new pond right in front of the green. This will expand the water area by more than 1500 m2, making it easier for cautious players to avoid the water.
A number of new tees will be built over the ditch more to the left so that both water features are in sight and in play. The prudent player will zigzag (first shot to the right, second to the left, third green on chipping). The bunker to the left of the green adds excitement for these players.
The layout ensures that the driver will be used much less or not at all which will equalize the playing speed of the different levels which improves the throughput."
From Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 22, hole 7 will be played mostly as a par-3.
