Tespelduyn scores in national golf survey

What is the state of our golf course? What are our members experiencing? As a course, you are always working on it and the frequent player of your course also notices changes quickly. That's why we conduct an annual member survey among annual cardholders and Business Club members.

This year's annual survey was completed by 48% of our annual pass holders. Two-thirds of participants have a handicap between 18.5 and 36.0. We placed in the national top five four times in the categories of Association Life, Hospitality, Clubhouse & Business Club. "We are extremely proud to have been judged the best in the Netherlands with both our hospitality and our clubhouse. In addition, association life and business club both ranked2nd," director Peter Duivenvoorde responded enthusiastically.

"We have made a number of changes to the course in 2024 that are being appreciated," he continued. "Through further improved course maintenance, we are seeing positive trends in ratings such as 'the rough has appropriate difficulty' (from a 7.6 to a 7.9) and 'the condition of the course makes it easy to find your ball' (from a 7.2 to a 7.7).

Golf Lesson

What is striking is that 42% of those surveyed have not had a golf lesson. That's a four percent increase from 2023. Annual card holders "prefer to work on their golf game themselves.
Tespelduyn's golf school is rated extremely enthusiastically by golfers who have lessons. As much as 50 percent higher than the national rating.

Suggestions and improvements

We received over 1,300 responses regarding distinctiveness, suggestions for improving flow, safety and general recommendations and tips.

What else are we going to do?

Job maintenance and facilities

  • Improve the bunkers by keeping the sand looser.
  • An extra step has been created at the step on hole 7.
  • Benches have been installed on hole 7.
  • The rubber tees of the Parkholes will be replaced weekly, with the mats also being blown and rotated and/or replaced in a timely manner.
  • Exit from Parkhole 3 will be modified so that dirt does not flow onto the mat.
  • New mats are being installed on the driving range
  • The hole flags feature a thin bottom so you have more scoring chances if the flag is in the hole.
  • Additional lighting will be installed on the driveway so you will be more visible on the walkway from driving range to parking lot.
  • Additional lighting has been installed near the stairs on driving range.

Job safety

  • As of October 1, our mowers are equipped with flashing lights and the rule becomes: Flashing light on? Don't hit!
  • Additional signs will be posted on the driving range. These will remind you to call FORE as soon as you hit a ball over the driving range net.

Playing experience, software and flow

  • Implementation of new golf software is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. The handicaps will then come with the golf bookings so we will be able to better ensure golf bookings and maximum handicap per flight
  • We received a lot of feedback about the flow on hole 7, despite the modification last year. Various solutions will be explored and tested in the short term to improve flow.
  • We received many comments about participating in fair handicap competitions. As a tip, we would like to pass along that entering your cards very regularly is fairer for both yourself and fellow players and also increases the enjoyment of playing.
  • The rules & etiquette evening will take place on December 10. You can register here
  • Play Ready Golf! Run out of points to score? Pick up the ball and then move on to the next hole.
  • For beginning golfers, we would like to bring to your attention the HCP 37-55 coaching rounds. All information can be found in the link.
  • The best deal for registering your handicap is joining ClubNL. You pay €92.50 annually and receive 18-hole vouchers each year that you can redeem on beautiful courses. Find all the info at ClubNL and enjoy many benefits!

Volunteers

  • As many as 21 new volunteers have signed up and will be contacted in the coming weeks.

Although we are rated well for listening to suggestions, please keep coming up with suggestions. You can do so very simply by emailing joyce@tespelduyn.nl.
