Tespelduyn: from camping site to golf estate

Every golf course has its charm; some are built on a landfill, others are private. The story behind Tespelduyn starts with Grandpa Piet and Grandma Wil, who turned a camping spot into an estate and golf course....

Grandpa Duivenvoorde

The Duivenvoorde family used to live in a flat in Sassenheim. On what is now the estate, there was only a caravan. This is where Piet and Wil stayed during the summer months with the children. Piet asked the landowner to contact him should he ever want to sell it.

The clubhouse

No sooner said than done. Wil and Pete bought the property and refurbished it where needed. What is now the restaurant used to serve as living quarters. Today, the house also houses the offices and hospitality branch of the Tespelduyn estate and golf course.

A golf course

Eventually, the Duivenvoorde family bought up more and more land around the current estate. Then came the idea of setting up a golf course. The old house of Piet and Wil - now living smaller - was turned into a clubhouse and the estate became a golf course.

Permits

It took seven years to get all the permits to establish the golf course. Then it took several more years to build the course. The course now consists of 3 park holes, 9 holes, a driving range, chipping green, pitch field and a putting green of course.

Peter's mission

Peter Duivenvoorde, the son of Piet and Wil Duivenvoorde, eventually takes the helm. He continues to expand the golf course and the estate. The golf course wins awards in the field of hospitality and the estate is regularly transformed into a breathtaking wedding venue. With the recent construction of the glass conservatory, the estate has developed a little further.
